उत्तराखंड में कोरोना वायरस के एक्सबीबी-1.5 संस्करण का एक नया मामला पाया गया है, जिससे देश में विषाणु के इस स्वरूप से संबंधित मामलों की कुल संख्या आठ हो गई है। इस संस्करण की वजह से अमेरिका में संक्रमण के मामलों में वृद्धि देखी गई है। भारतीय सार्स कोव-2 जिनोमिकी संगठन (इंसाकोग) ने कहा कि पिछले 24 घंटे में संबंधित संस्करण का नया मामला उत्तराखंड में मिला, जबकि इससे पहले एक्सबीबी 1.5 संस्करण से जुड़े तीन मामले गुजरात में और एक-एक मामला कनार्टक, तेलंगाना, छत्तीसगढ़ तथा राजस्थान में मिला था। एक्सबीबी- 1.5 संस्करण, ओमीक्रोन एक्सबीबी संस्करण से संबंधित है, जो ओमीक्रोन बीए- 2.10.1 और बीए- 2.75 उपसंस्करणों का पुनसंयोजन है। संयुक्त रूप से एक्सबीबी और एक्सबीबी- 1.5 अमेरिका में संक्रमण के 44 प्रतिशत मामलों के लिए जिम्मेदार हैं। इंसाकोग के आंकड़ों से यह भी पता चला है कि बीएफ.7 संस्करण के नौ मामले पाए गए हैं, जो स्पष्ट रूप से चीन में कोविड-19 की लहर के लिए जिम्मेदार है। पश्चिम बंगाल में ओमीक्रोन उपसंस्करण बीएफ-7 के चार मामले, गुजरात और हरियाणा में दो-दो तथा ओडिशा में एक मामला दर्ज किया गया है।
