राज्य सरकार प्रदेश के करीब 1000 बेसिक और माध्यमिक स्कूलों को सेंटर ऑफ एक्सीलेंस के रूप में विकसित करेगी। इन स्कूलों के एक से पांच किलोमीटर के दायरे में आने वाले स्कूलों से शिफ्ट होने वाले छात्रों को हर रोज 100 रुपये बतौर किराया दिया जाएगा। इस संबंध में शिक्षा महानिदेशालय ने सरकार को प्रस्ताव भेज दिया है। इन सेंटर ऑफ एक्सीलेंस के साथ प्रदेशभर में करीब 2300 स्कूल जुड़ेंगे।
डीजी-शिक्षा बंशीधर तिवारी ने बताया कि छात्रों को स्कूल आने-जाने के लिए एस्कॉर्ट देने पर तो सहमति बन चुकी थी। अब किराये की राशि भी तय कर ली गई है। फिलहाल किराये के रूप में छात्र-छात्राओं को 100 रुपये प्रतिदिन देने का प्रस्ताव किया गया है।
खर्चा होगा कम छात्रों को रोज 100 रुपये बतौर किराया देने के बाद भी राज्य का आर्थिक बोझ कम होगा। प्रथम चरण में सेंटर ऑफ एक्सीलेंस 5-10 छात्र संख्या वाले स्कूलों के बीच बनाए जाने हैं। वर्तमान नियम के अनुसार, हर स्कूल में दो शिक्षकों की नियुक्ति अनिवार्य है। दो शिक्षकों पर न्यूनतम 1.20 लाख रुपये तक मासिक खर्च आता है। स्कूल के रखरखाव का खर्च अलग। ऐसे में किसी स्कूल के 10 छात्रों को रोज 100-100 रुपये दिए जाते हैं तो भी हर माह अधिकतम 24हजार रुपये तक ही खर्च होंगे।
